From a striking and lively capital city, exotic islands, dense canopy of jungles, so many adventurous things to do, to a rich variety of delicious food, Malaysia has a lot to offer for the tourists of all ages. But it is still one of the most underrated countries in Asia. There are so many reasons you should prefer Malaysia over Thailand, Vietnam and Indonesia. Have a look at our curated list of best things to do and explore to have an unforgettable trip to this Southeast Asian country

1. Go Sightseeing in Kuala Lumpur

The capital city of Malaysia, Kuala Lumpur is well worth to spend a few days before exploring the rest of the nation. It is the most beautiful, pristine and cleanest city we have ever seen in Asia. If you are heading to Malaysia, you will most probably land in this city.

Never ever miss the iconic Petronas Towers. Also check out the oh-so appealing Sky Bar. As the name suggests, it is positioned at 33rd floor of Traders Hotel. Enjoy the breathtaking views of Petronas Twin Towers, sip on a cocktail and dance to the beats of DJ.

2. Trekking in Merapoh Caves

Explore some of the exciting caves of Merapoh and spend some great time there. Out of over 400 caves, one can only explore 85. We also walked through the dark caves where river passes over your feet. On the other side, we reached the dense jungle. You can drive by yourself or get there by bus or train. Hop on a bus at TBS in Kuala Lumpur to Merapoh Village, which is around 244 km and takes 4 hours. You can also book Malaysia tour package to get there.

2. Trekking in Merapoh Caves

3. Explore Penang and its Street Art

Penang is actually an island located off the west coast and is well known for delicious food and street art. In 2008, it is listed as UNESCO World Cultural Heritage attraction. It is the place shouldn’t be missed on your Malaysia tour.

You can spot the innovative and witty street art all around Georgetown where you can capture beautiful and quirky shots. You can take any flight from Kuala Lumpur which takes around 55 minutes. You can also take a train from Kuala Lumpur which is a cheaper option and takes up to 6 hours.

3. Explore Penang and its Street Art

4. Savor on the Traditional Home-cooked Meals

Locals are very friendly there. We travelled through Malaysia for three weeks and locals invited us to enjoy their hospitality. They have unique dining manners you should know before visiting them –

  • They sit on the floor with family on the meal time.
  • If you are visiting them, it would be a nice gesture to bring a small gift for them or a souvenir from your own country.
  • As a courtesy of respect, they allow the guests to sit next to the elder family member.
  • The host asks you to start eating. If you start eating without waiting for them, it shows disrespect.
  • Don’t use your left hand to eat. Left hand is strictly avoided for both eating and serving as it is used for washroom.
  • Each grain of rice shouldn’t be wasted and is considered holy. You need to finish enough rice possible as it shouldn’t go into waste.
  • Wait for the elders to take serving.

4. Savor on the Traditional Home-cooked Meals

5. Hiking at Bako National Park

Bako National Park is a stunning paradise in Kuching filled with wildlife, rainforest, and secluded beaches. Head to Bako Village and take a boat to get there. It has 16 color-coded treks to offer different hiking and walking options.

When you visit there, you will definitely spot wildlife. You can spot silver leaf monkeys and long-tailed macaques jumping across the trees, plenty of monitor lizards and squirrels, and wild boars poking around the park.

6. Explore the Incredible Batu Caves

The exciting Batu Caves is located just 20 minutes at the outskirts of KL. You shouldn’t skip this giant cave temple while visiting Kuala Lumpur. The birds flying across the cave and monkeys playing around the walls add to a captivating sight to behold. There are 272 steps you need to climb to reach the temple and entry is free. Be sure to cover your knees and shoulders as it is a pilgrimage attraction. It is very easy to get there by train as it is just 13 km from the city. In every 30 minutes, you can take a train from KL Sentral, which costs only 4 MYR.

7. Have Fun with Orangutans

You can volunteer and get up close to these endangered species on Orangutan Island in Taiping. These orangutans were rescued from illegal trade and possession. Since then, they call this sanctuary their home. You can also play your part to save these smart and beautiful creatures. The treks here are covered by a cage to ensure safety of volunteers and workers. The rest of the island is free to roam for the orangutans where they can create nests and climb trees. We also helped the workers in cleaning, feeding and observing them.

Have Fun with Orangutans

8. Visit the Perhentian Islands to See the Sea Turtles

The Perhentian Islands is definitely a place known as the “Maldives of Malaysia” located closely to the coast of Thailand. You can easily get there by water taxi or ferry. You can enjoy scuba diving in the pristine beaches. Volunteering with sea turtles was such a great adventure. We were indulged in protecting turtle nesting beaches and photo research.

Getting there was also easy. Fly with Air Asia, Malaysia Airline, or Fireflyz from KL to either Kota Bharu or Kuala Terengganu which takes over 45 minutes. Take either taxi or bus to Kuala Besut jetty. The journey takes up to 1 hour from Kota Bharu airport or over 1 and a half hour from Kuala Terengganu airport.

So you need to visit Malaysia + Singapore, yet where to begin? There are such a large number of regions, and the two storm seasons could truly put a damper on an ineffectively coordinated outing. The Northeast Monsoon can influence Malaysia east of the promontory from October to March, while the Southwest Monsoon influences Peninsular Malaysia from April to September. On the off chance that you are arranging a visit during the Northeast period, we have the ideal Malaysia and Singapore schedule for your excursion.

We went through the long stretch of January between seven territories in Singapore DMC and Western Malaysia DMC and investigated the top features on the promontory. This excursion is adaptable, and should effectively be possible given less or additional time. What’s more, who wouldn’t have any desire to invest more energy here with the over ease of movement? Our $58 two-man everyday normal constantly included private rooms with en suite restroom and no holdbacks on nourishment.

The Perfect Malaysia and Singapore Itinerary

Malaysia and Singapore Itinerary:

Singapore is a blend of societies. Solid Chinese, Indian and Malay impacts make a delectable and dynamic spot for a visit. Regardless of having present-day high rises and far-reaching open vehicles, natural safeguarding and neatness are at the center of its personality. The nation is all around associated universally via air and overland with Malaysia, making this an extraordinary spot to start an excursion through the promontory. Singapore is a perfect place for a group tour, many DMC in Singapore will suggest you go on the Singapore Malaysia group tour.

We discovered Singapore extremely simple to explore, yet unquestionably on the pricier side for Asia. Shockingly, money was required for installment all the more frequently than normal, including for the metro and numerous cafés. During your outing, be certain and spare time to meander the well-known Gardens By the Bay, and test a steamed bun at the Michelin perceived Din Tai Fung. This is a little nation and doesn’t require a lot of time to investigate.

Try not to miss:

Gardens By the Bay

Impressive greenhouses situated close to downtown and the waterfront, which is home of the world fame Supertree Grove. The recreation center is allowed to enter, yet there are discretionary paid additional items including the Flower and Cloud Forest Domes and the Skyway, which merit a visit. Starting in 2018, the consolidated access to the two Domes was $28 ($21) and the Skyway cost $8 ($6). Try to likewise visit the Gardens around evening time during the free Supertree Grove Rhapsody Light Show, which goes ahead every day at 7:45 and 8:45 pm.

Night View From Singapore Flyer

The city illuminates around evening time, making a lovely exhibition. A standout amongst other evening city perspectives can be found at the Ferris wheel crosswise over Marina Bay where Supertree Grove and the Domes can be seen, alongside the city horizon and Sands lodging. Many best of Singapore DMC in India will tell you about this place.

Kuala Lumpur

As the capital city of Malaysia, Kuala Lumpur (alluded to as KL by local people) has a ton to offer. The city is home to the world’s tallest Petronas twin towers, heaps of astonishing nourishment, various sanctuaries, and caverns. Numerous individuals decide to visit KL for the more affordable shopping and eating alternatives than those found in Singapore or to unwind in a portion of the universes least expensive 5-star inns.

We saw the city as incredible on a financial limit, with numerous moderate and agreeable housing. There are a lot of shops and shopping centers offering anything an explorer could require, and considerably more cafés and vendor slows down around each turn. Local people are probably the most pleasant and generally fair on the planet, continually ensuring that you feel invited

Kuala Lumpur

Taman Negara National Park

As opposed to the city experience, Malaysia has a far-reaching territory of rainforest wilderness to visit looking for untamed life. Taman Negara National Park is situated in the focal point of the terrain and comprises of more than 4,000 square kilometers of lacking area. Kuala Tehan is the opening shot point for wilderness investigation, where a few calm guesthouses and inns are specked around the little nearby town. The recreation center is straightforwardly over the stream where pontoons take travelers to and fro on demand for a negligible 1 MYR ($0.25) per way.

True to form for a profound wilderness goal, it can get very hot now and again. It is available to guests 24 hours so visit outside the warmth of the day, and make certain to bring a lot of bug shower. Passage and camera licenses are required which cost 1 MYR and 5 MYR ($1.25), individually. These can be bought at the Kuala Tembling Jetty or upon section to the recreation center. Fines are critical whenever gotten without a grant.

While some bigger species are found inside the recreation center including Malay tigers and sun bears, a great deal of the experience originates from persistence and cautious tuning in. We had the absolute generally fulfilling while gradually strolling through the trees, spending long occasions in a creature stow away and tuning in the humming tune on an independently directed night safari. We cherished this experience on our Malaysia and Singapore schedule. This place will be a part of the Singapore city tour.

Taman Negara National Park

Cameron Highlands

Exactly when you have had enough of the warmth, you can proceed onward to a slope station situated in the Cameron Highlands. The region is situated in the mountains of focal terrain and brags as the biggest tea, strawberry, and vegetable developing district in Malaysia. With the higher elevation comes radically cooler temperatures and it can even get somewhat cold around evening time. Invest some energy getting a charge out of the green mountain landscape and investigating the numerous manors and cloud backwoods. We took a pleasant half-day visit with EcoCameron however, on the other hand, an enlisted vehicle, if accessible, would be modest and advantageous.
