General Info

Pulau Redang or Redang Island is a small group of islands in South Chinese Sea, towards the east of Peninsular Malaysia. Redang is located in the Terengganu Marine Park, the conserved marine waters. It is located around 45km from the coast of Kuala Terengganu city. There are several other smaller islands next to the main Redang Island. The island has several diving opportunities for the adventure lovers and is covered by crystal clear water. It also offers snorkeling to explore the coral reefs in good condition. Usually, Redang Island doesn’t remain crowded much. It can remain busy during public holidays and local school holidays. Since Redang belongs to a Marine Park, you may have to pay fee of RM5 on arrival for entrance.

Malaysia Redang Island Attraction Tour

Redang Island in Malaysia has been one of the most well-known tourist destinations on the Peninsular Malaysia’s east coast. The Redang archipelago reefs have around 100 fish species and over 55 coral genera.

If you want some more luxury on your stay, you may definitely opt for Malaysia Redang Island Tour Package. There are several luxury resorts available in Redang and most of them are world-class. These resorts also have restaurants but there are also some private ones. At Pasir Panjang, you may access most of the F&B options, which is the most popular beach here.

You can enjoy a blend of western and local dishes at resort restaurants. In comparison to other areas in the country, prices are quite on high side. But it is still worth to enjoy the typical tropical vibes at Redang. Usually, you can enjoy the nightlife around the bars and you can enjoy alcohol at almost any part of the island.

Best time to visit

Best time to get there is from April to October. But it might be too late if you get here in October as northeast monsoon passes from November to March. So, most of the resorts are closed in this period. The underwater world is not that visually great during the monsoons due to less visibility and it also has currents. If you don’t like crowds, skip visiting in public holidays and school holidays. So, it is better to visit Redang from April to October. You will still in tropics even if it rains.

How to get there?

There is only main road from the small airport to get around. However, there are a few trails across the island, which are not used for transport to other places.
