Founded in 1859, Singapore Botanic Garden exhibits a range of whopping 10,000 types of plants, especially tropical ones, spread over 84 hectares (183 acres) of landscapes. These wide acres of landscapes house the National Orchid Garden, with its amazing range of 60,000 vivid orchids, which represent 2000 hybrids and 1000 species.

Botanic Garden Attraction Tour

The Singapore Botanic Garden is ranked as one of the most well-known attractions in Singapore and it became the first UNESCO World Heritage Site of the country in 2016. When it comes to get to the gardens, you can take Mass Rapid Transit (MRT) Singapore Circle Line to Botanic Gardens.

Best time to visit

Thanks to the favorable climate all the year round, you may take Disney Botanic Garden Tour at any time of the year. However, rainfall seems to happen more frequently from November to January. The Singapore Symphony Orchestra usually holds free concerts. So, you can check the calendar. On public holidays, you can expect large crowds, especially during Chinese New Year (Lunar New Year). Singapore Botanical Garden remains open every day from 5am to 12 midnight. Entry is free, except for National Orchid Garden in main gardens.

There are different entrances to enter the gardens in different zones. But the grand entrance is Tanglin Gate in front of Holland Road.

Southeast Asia Rubber Boom

Singapore Botanic Gardens started to cultivate rubber seedlings in the year 1877, which were brought from London’s Kew Gardens to Singapore. At the gardens, researchers started developing sustainable techniques of rubber tapping. The gardens were meeting the needs for rubber by supplying over 7 million rubber seeds across the Malay Peninsula. It brought economic boom to this country of Southeast Asia.
